Plastic People
We all know our planet is swimming in plastic. But most people don’t know that our bodies are full of it too. This startling new documentary PLASTIC PEOPLE: THE HIDDEN CRISIS OF MICROPLASTICS travels the world to help us look at plastic in a new way.
Recent discoveries by leading scientists have found that these particles are in our bodies: organs, blood, brain tissue, and even the placentas of new mothers. Featuring significant “first of its kind” footage, the film lays bare the threat posed by microplastics in the human body and the impressive advocates searching for a solution.
What is the impact of these microplastics on our health? Ziya Tong, author and science journalist, makes it personal by visiting leading scientists and undergoing experiments in her home, on her food, and on her body.
PLASTIC PEOPLE shines a spotlight on the frightening consequence of these invisible invaders and asks what needs to be done about it?
This film highlights an issue so critical that the UN will screen to the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC-4) in April as they strive to develop an international legally binding instrument on plastic pollution. SXSW will host the World Premiere of the film on the 9th March 2024.
